Where do we speak? 

We speak in rooms.  We speak in the street. We speak into phones.  We speak into microphones.  We speak across pillow cases.  We speak to ourselves in the shower.  We speak in school.  We speak at work, at home, with our friends.  We speak with our bodies.  We speak with our actions.  We speak with pens.  We speak on paper.  We speak online, on keypads, on notebooks, on palms.  We speak in the ether.  We speak in time.  We speak history.  We speak where we were, where we are, where we will be.  We speak against violence.  We speak for change.  We speak and we talk and we say and we sing and we mumble and we grumble and we hiss and we pry and we proclaim and we declaim and we shout and we yell and we cry and we appeal and we speak the spoken spokes of our very spoken selves each time in every place and every instant we manage to take another breath.

How do we speak? 

We speak loud.  We speak up.  We speak strange.  We speak us.  We speak in and we speak out.  We speak speech.  We beseech.  We speak with head and we speak with heart.  We speak to each other.  We speak want and we speak need.  We speak now and we speak then - about then and back then and back when we could not speak so much.  We speak on repeat without too much delete.  We speak and record.  We speak sound.  We speak text - on and off, on and off, on and off the page.  We speak to say what is.  We speak to think about what is not or what we forgot or what we did not or what is begot from what we speak in the first place.  We speak technology.  We speak human.
